Croatia 2-1 Ghana: Vlasic Header Sends Croatia Through as Black Stars Advance as Best Third-Place

Croatia created the first clear chance in the 17th minute when Nikola Vlasic's powerful strike struck the post. The pressure paid off in the 31st minute when Petar Sucic capitalized on a misplaced pass from Gideon Adjetey and unleashed a rocket from outside the box that slipped through Derrick Luckassen's legs and into the bottom-left corner.

Ghana nearly equalized late in the half when Antoine Semenyo's shot slid just wide of the post. Ghana equalized in the 73rd minute when Derrick Luckassen finished from Ernest Nuamah's free-kick, awarded after a VAR review overturned an initial offside decision.

The goal sent Ghanaian fans into a frenzy. But Ghana's joy was short-lived. Just ten minutes later, Luka Modric delivered a precise corner, allowing Nikola Vlasic to head home the winner in the 82nd minute .

The victory lifted Croatia to second place in the group with six points, behind England on seven, while Ghana finished third with four points and also advanced as one of the eight best third-placed teams. Croatia will now face Portugal in the Round of 32, while Ghana will face Colombia.
