JAMB Extends 2026 Direct Entry Registration to May 8 — What Candidates Need to Know
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially extended the deadline for the 2026 Direct Entry (DE) registration to May 8, 2026. The cost for the form is N5,700 and candidates are to be informed that the registration can only be done at the State and Zonal JAMB offices nationwide. The decision comes after increased demands due to challenges faced by candidates trying to complete their registration before the initial deadline.
JAMB explained that the extension is aimed at ensuring that more eligible candidates have the opportunity to register and those who experienced delays or technical issues are not left out. With many centres reportedly experiencing heavy traffic, the extension offers is very much needed. To support the process, JAMB has also approved additional registration centres across the country. This move is expected to reduce congestion and speed up the registration process.
For those unfamiliar, Direct Entry allows candidates with ND (National Diploma), NCE (Nigeria Certificate in Education), A-levels or equivalent to gain admission directly into 200 level in Nigerian universities without sitting for UTME.
With the new deadline in place, candidates are advised to complete their registration well before May 8 and use only approved JAMB centres. This extension is a new chance for candidates and they are encouraged to take advantage of the extra time wisely because when the new deadline closes, there may be no further extensions.
