JAMB Releases 2026 UTME Top Scorers as UNILAG Applicant Emerges Overall Best with 372
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially unveiled the top scorers for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with a University of Lagos applicant emerging as the highest-scoring candidate nationwide.

The 2026 UTME ranking list is out; and at the top is Owoeye Daniella Jesudunsin, an Ekiti-born candidate who sat for the examination in Ogun State and scored an impressive 372 out of 400, which makes her the highest-scoring candidate this year.
According to the released ranking, Owoeye picked University of Lagos (UNILAG) as her first-choice institution with hopes to study Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). Her outstanding performance has earned her national attention and praise across social media.
Closely behind her is Enwere Kingsley Ikenna, who scored 370 and selected Nile University of Nigeria as his preferred institution to study Computer Science. Other candidates on the top 10 list posted scores ranging from 367 to 369, with their chosen institutions including Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), University of Benin (UNIBEN), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), and Babcock University (ABUAD shown on the board is Afe Babalola University).
This year’s results have sparked conversations about the educational system in the North as all the students in the top 11 come from the South. Many social media users have questioned their leaders as regards the education system and how can it can improve over the years.
The announcement was made during JAMB’s annual policy meeting and tertiary education awards event in Abuja, where education stakeholders gathered to discuss admission benchmarks and reforms. For Owoeye Daniella Jesudunsin and the other top scorers, the 2026 UTME results mark the beginning of what could be remarkable academic journey.
