President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election, describing the victory as a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in Nigeria under the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.

President Tinubu made the remarks in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Sunday, following the Independent National Electoral Commission's declaration of Adeleke as the winner of the August 15 governorship election.
The President revealed that he had personally called Adeleke to congratulate him on his electoral victory and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the state for another four years. "His victory once again confirmed the confidence the people of Osun State have in him," Tinubu said.
The President urged Adeleke to use his renewed mandate to unite the people of Osun State, rallying them for growth, stability and socio-economic progress, regardless of their political affiliations or choices during the election . "Now that he has won, Governor Adeleke must unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made at the election," Tinubu stated . He also wished the governor great success as he prepares to lead the state for the next four years.
The President also commended other contestants for their courage and discipline, saying their participation deepened and enriched Nigeria's democratic culture.
He noted that the outcome of the election reflected the will of the people and reinforced confidence in the country's democratic process. "The outcome of the election reflects the will of the people and is a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in our land," Tinubu said.
Additionally, the President praised the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies for conducting a peaceful and transparent election that produced a clear winner. Adeleke, the candidate of the Accord Party, was declared the winner after polling 511,067 votes, defeating his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the APC, who secured 444,815 votes.
The governor won 19 of the state's 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji carried the remaining 11 councils .
