Trump Issues 48-Hour Ultimatum to Iran Over Strait of Hormuz

U.S. President Donald Trump has given Iran 48 hours to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face military action, escalating tensions in an already fragile region.

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Iran, demanding the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

In a post shared on his Truth Social platform and reposted by the White House on X, Trump warned that failure to allow safe passage for ships within the given timeframe could lead to military action targeting Iran’s power infrastructure.

The warning comes amid rising tensions following Iran’s blockade of the strategic waterway, a key global route for oil transportation. The disruption has affected the movement of crude oil from the Middle East and contributed to a sharp increase in global oil prices, which have reportedly crossed one hundred dollars per barrel.

The situation has also been worsened by ongoing conflict in the region. Iran has reportedly carried out attacks on energy facilities in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait. These countries are considered key allies of the United States, and the attacks have disrupted oil production across the region.

In response to the growing crisis, several world leaders issued a joint statement condemning Iran’s actions. Countries including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, and Canada called for an immediate end to the blockade and urged Iran to respect international maritime laws.

The United Nations has also been referenced, with global leaders stressing the importance of freedom of navigation under international law.

Meanwhile, Iran has responded with strong warnings of its own. Its military has stated that any attack on its power infrastructure would lead to retaliation against U.S. and allied facilities in the region, including critical systems such as water, energy, and communication networks.

As the deadline approaches, the situation remains tense, with the international community closely watching for Iran’s next move and the potential consequences of any military escalation.
