Iyabo Ojo Breaks Silence on Funke Akindele–Toyin Abraham Rift
Iyabo Ojo has addressed the ongoing tension between Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, revealing past efforts to reconcile both actresses while distancing herself from the current situation.
Nollywood actress and filmmaker Iyabo Ojo has publicly addressed the ongoing tension between her colleagues Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, following recent viral moments that reignited speculation of a rift.
In a detailed post shared on her Instagram page, Iyabo pushed back against criticism directed at her, stating that she felt compelled to clarify her role in the situation.
According to her, she and Funke Akindele have had a long-standing friendship marked by both disagreements and reconciliation. She admitted to previously calling out Funke publicly over Toyin Abraham’s movie, describing the move as a mistake she should have handled privately.
Iyabo revealed that she later made efforts to mend the relationship between both actresses, including personally intervening, pleading, and encouraging them to resolve their differences. She noted that their brief public interaction months ago was the result of that reconciliation, which came with an agreement to avoid addressing issues online.
However, tensions reportedly resurfaced in December after Toyin raised concerns about her film performance in cinemas, with some fans allegedly pointing fingers at Funke, reigniting speculation of rivalry.
Speaking on her latest project, The Return of Arinzo, Iyabo disclosed that Toyin Abraham was initially part of the film but withdrew at the last minute due to exhaustion and travel commitments. She admitted the decision affected production, requiring script adjustments, but added that Toyin later apologised and they resolved the issue.
Expressing disappointment over the situation, Iyabo stated that she has done her best to maintain peace but no longer wishes to be involved in mediating between both parties.
“The sky is big enough for all,” she wrote, urging the public to respect her decision to step back, while expressing continued support for both actresses.
She also confirmed that The Return of Arinzo is scheduled for cinema release nationwide from April 3.
