Haaland Double Powers Norway to 3-2 Win Over Senegal, Vikings Join France in Round of 32

Erling Haaland continued his incredible goalscoring form with a brace as Norway defeated Senegal 3-2 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, securing the Vikings' spot in the knockout stages of the World Cup . The match was a thrilling encounter that saw Norway dominate for large periods, with Haaland proving once again why he is one of the most feared strikers in world football. The win gives Norway six points from two matches, ensuring they join France in advancing from Group I .

The breakthrough came in the 43rd minute when a defensive error from Kalidou Koulibaly gifted the ball to substitute Marcus Pedersen, who fired past Edouard Mendy to give Norway the lead. Just after the restart, Haaland doubled the lead in the 48th minute, running onto a superb through pass from Martin Odegaard before unleashing a powerful left-footed shot into the top corner.

Senegal fought back through Ismaila Sarr's clinical finish in the 53rd minute, but Haaland restored Norway's two-goal cushion just five minutes later with a stunning volley from Patrick Berg's cross, his fourth goal of the tournament.

Sarr scored his second goal deep into stoppage time, but it was too little too late for the West African side . The result moves Norway to six points, level with France, who top the group on goal difference . Senegal are now 0-2 in a World Cup for the first time in their history and face a must-win situation against Iraq in their final group match to keep their hopes of advancing as a third-place team alive . The Vikings, making their first World Cup appearance since 1998, have been one of the tournament's most impressive sides and will face France on Friday to decide who finishes top of Group I.

Haaland's brace brought his tally to four goals in just two matches, equalling Kylian Mbappe and leaving him just one goal behind Lionel Messi in the race for the Golden Boot . The Manchester City striker now has an astonishing 59 goals in 52 appearances for the Norwegian national team, and his form has been a major factor in his country's success . With the Round of 32 secured, Norway will now look to continue their impressive run and make a deep impact in the knockout stages.
