“My Family Was No Longer Safe” - Mr Macaroni Reveals Why He Stepped Back From Government Criticism

Skitmaker Mr Macaroni has opened up about the threats he faced while speaking out on government and social issues. He recalled how the situation became so serious that his family reportedly feared for their safety and considered flying him out of Nigeria.

Nigerian skitmaker and social commentator Mr Macaroni has opened up about the personal cost of his outspoken views on government and political issues.

In an interview recorded more than two years ago that recently resurfaced, the entertainer recalled receiving serious threats during his activism, particularly around the #EndSARS period. According to Mr Macaroni, the situation became even more worrying when his family started feeling unsafe. He said his mother would call him in tears after noticing what she considered suspicious movements around their home.

“I stopped talking about the government because I was receiving so many threats, and my family wasn’t safe.”

He recalled that things became so serious that his family considered flying him out of Nigeria, but he refused to leave.

“It was so bad they wanted to fly me out, but I said, ‘No, I’m staying.’”

However, Mr Macaroni later clarified that threats were not the only reason he reduced his political commentary. He said he had become tired of repeating the same messages without seeing the change he hoped for, while also facing backlash from Nigerians.

He said his break from political commentary should not be interpreted as him no longer caring about Nigeria, adding that he may speak up again when he feels Nigerians are ready to demand change.

The revelation has once again sparked conversations about the risks public figures can face when they use their platforms to speak on sensitive political and social issues.
