Poco Lee denies UK charges in call with VeryDarkMan

In the call, Poco Lee said he “didn’t do what I was accused of” and credited Afrobeats star Burna Boy, socialite Rahman Jago, and friends in the UK for helping with his release.

Nigerian dancer and hypeman Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, has appeared in a recorded FaceTime conversation with social media activist Martins Otse (VeryDarkMan or VDM), in which he denied the serious sexual offence allegations against him and thanked supporters for helping secure his reported release from UK custody.

The approximately five-minute video, shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, September 13, 2026, by user @dammiedammie35 and widely circulated, shows the two men speaking.

In the call, Poco Lee said he “didn’t do what I was accused of” and credited Afrobeats star Burna Boy, socialite Rahman Jago, and friends in the UK for helping with his release. VDM voiced strong support, declaring that Poco Lee was innocent of the claims and noting that some people were angry about the reported release: “Some people are angry that you’re out and I’m going to make them more angry cos what you didn’t do you didn’t do.”

The footage follows earlier “proof of life” clips shared by VDM on September 12 showing Poco Lee alongside Burna Boy, which fueled reports that the dancer was no longer in custody after weeks on remand.

Poco Lee faces five sexual offence charges in the United Kingdom: one count of attempted rape, two counts of rape, and two counts of assault by penetration. The allegations relate to an incident reportedly in Tower Hamlets, east London, on July 23, 2026. He travelled to the UK for the Davido and Friends concert at Crystal Palace Bowl in mid-August. He first appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court on August 18 before the case moved to Snaresbrook crown court.

The UK’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has confirmed that the case remains active. A plea and trial preparation hearing is still scheduled for September 15, 2026, at Snaresbrook Crown Court. Authorities have not publicly detailed the circumstances of any release (such as bail conditions) or confirmed claims that the complainant had withdrawn from the case. A reporting restriction protects the complainant’s identity under the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992. Poco Lee has not been convicted of any offence and is presumed innocent.

The FaceTime exchange has intensified online discussions in Nigerian social media circles. Supporters have welcomed the denial and the apparent release, while critics and some observers have pointed to the ongoing court process. VDM’s vocal backing has also drawn commentary, including references to fanbase rivalries.

Neither Burna Boy nor official UK court statements have independently confirmed the precise details of any assistance provided or the exact status of custody versus bail at the time of the call. Further clarity is expected around the September 15 hearing.
