‘I Will Be President of Nigeria Before You Die’ - Natasha Osawaru Tells Grandfather Gabriel Igbinedion

Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru has sparked conversations after making a bold promise to her grandfather, billionaire businessman Gabriel Igbinedion, as he celebrated his 92nd birthday.

During the birthday celebration, the lawmaker spoke affectionately about her grandfather, describing him as someone who has become even “sweeter and better” with age. Osawaru said being around the 92-year-old meant so much to her that she sometimes became emotional thinking about how important he is to her. But it was her birthday promise that caught the attention of many people.

Addressing her grandfather, Osawaru said she would become the President of Nigeria while he was still alive to witness it.

“I promise you that I will be the president of this country before you die, amen in Jesus’ name. And I’ll make you very, very proud,” she declared.

She went on to promise that she would continue to improve herself and do better every day, apparently determined to make her grandfather proud of her achievements. The lawmaker also used the occasion to pray for her grandfather’s continued good health and longevity. She expressed her hope that he would live to celebrate many more birthdays, mentioning his 94th, 95th, 96th, 97th, 98th, 99th and even 100th birthdays. Taking her prayer even further, Osawaru prayed that the businessman would live to the age of 150.

Her emotional tribute showed the close bond she shares with her grandfather, as she described how deeply she loves and values him.

“I cannot live without you. May God bless you, my grandfather. I love you so much,” she added.

Beyond the emotional birthday message, however, Osawaru’s declaration about becoming Nigeria’s president has already given Nigerians something to talk about. With the lawmaker still building her political career, her promise has raised curiosity about whether the ambitious goal could eventually become a reality.
