The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has begun releasing results for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination,beginning with candidates who wrote the exam on April 16.
About 632,788 candidates’ results have been released so far, and more will be released in batches in the coming days. Candidates who did their exams on 16th and 17th can check their results by sending “UTMERESULT” via SMS to official numbers provided by JAMB.
At the same time, JAMB has raised serious concerns about exam result manipulation using AI. Two candidates and one parent are currently in custody after they were found accused of trying to falsify UTME results using artificial intelligence and other electronic methods. JAMB has described this as a criminal offence and warned that anyone involved will face legal consequences.
JAMB has issued a clear message to the public: there is no legitimate way to “upgrade” or alter UTME results. Candidates have been advised to rely only on official channels, particularly the SMS method provided by the board, and to avoid falling victim to scams or engaging in fraudulent schemes.
