"Men No Longer Have the Balls to Break Up" – Toke Makinwa on How Relationships End

Media personality Toke Makinwa has opened up about her experience with marriage and divorce, claiming that men no longer have the courage to end relationships directly and instead frustrate women until they leave.

"Men No Longer Have the Balls to Break Up" – Toke Makinwa on How Relationships End

Speaking on her show Toke Moments, Makinwa revealed that she got married at 30 and divorced at 31, and she used her personal experience to illustrate her broader observations about how relationships end. "I got married at 30 and divorced at 31.

I don't even think men have the balls to break up with women these days, they just frustrate you till you leave," she said. Her comments have resonated with many women who have experienced similar situations, and they have sparked a broader conversation about communication and accountability in relationships.

Makinwa explained that rather than openly telling their partners that a relationship is no longer working, some men become distant or behave differently in ways that make their intentions clear without ever saying the words. "That's their new tactics, they will frustrate you till you leave.

A man will never sit you down and tell you it's not working out but everything about him tells you it's not working out," she said.

She described this behaviour as a form of avoidance that leaves women confused and often blaming themselves for problems that are not theirs to solve.

The media personality's comments have struck a chord with many women who have found themselves in similar situations, and her willingness to speak openly about her own divorce has inspired others to share their stories. Makinwa has been candid about her personal life in the past, and her latest comments continue her pattern of using her platform to discuss topics that are often considered taboo.

Makinwa has also spoken about the importance of women knowing their worth and not allowing themselves to be treated poorly in relationships.

She argued that women should not wait around for a man to change or to find the courage to end things, and that they should be willing to walk away when they are not being valued. Her advice reflects her own experiences and her journey to healing after her divorce.

The conversation that Makinwa has sparked is part of a broader national dialogue about gender relations and the dynamics of modern relationships in Nigeria.

Her willingness to share her truth has made her a relatable figure for many women navigating the complexities of love and marriage, and her message is clear: know your worth and don't settle for less than you deserve.
