NANS Intervenes as FUOYE SUG President’s Suspension Sparks Fresh Controversy
According to reports, NANS engaged with FUOYE’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, over the suspension of SUG President James Adio, following growing concerns among students about the disciplinary action.
The student body is seeking clarification on the circumstances surrounding Adio’s suspension and emphasized the need for due process and dialogue in resolving the dispute. The university suspended James Adio after his viral sex tape was leaked by a female student. While university authorities maintain that the disciplinary action followed due process, the suspension has generated debate within the student community, with some questioning whether the punishment was justified.
The development has also attracted attention because FUOYE has recently taken disciplinary measures against other students over issues including alleged cyberbullying related to the suspended SUG president. NANS urged both the university management and student leaders to resolve the matter through constructive dialogue rather than allowing tensions to escalate. The association also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the interests and welfare of Nigerian students whenever disputes arise between students and university authorities.
As discussions continue, many students are now waiting to see whether the suspension will be reviewed or whether the university will maintain its disciplinary decision.
