A-Sure Guide to Getting 300 and Above in 2026 JAMB

Scoring 300 and above in JAMB may seem difficult, but it is absolutely achievable with the right strategy.

A-Sure Guide to Getting 300 and Above in 2026 JAMB

JAMB is approaching once again. Here are a few tips on how to get 300 and above in your 2026 JAMB exam

The Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination can arguably be said to be the most crucial exam in the life of undergraduates. Without a good JAMB score, you cannot get into a good university, and as such, this exam must not be taken with levity.

Some many students are under the mistaken belief that it is almost impossible to get 300+ in their JAMB examination or you have to be some genius to do so but as a matter of fact that’s not the case, every student who has done excellently well could be said to have followed a routine or sticked to a plan that worked well for them, and after having done much reading into previous top students, we’ve found tips that we think could be of much help to you and they are;

1. Master your Syllabus

There is a limit to what you can achieve if you don’t even know what you’re battling. Before going to a crucial examination like JAMB, you need to know what is expected from you, everything you need to cover and every corner they might want to set a question from. Make sure every topic is seen and covered. Even if it seems too difficult, try to cover it as much as possible.

2. Daily CBT Practice

Like the famous saying, “practice makes perfect,” it applies to this situation too. You have to practice! Even if you are already used to computer-based tests, you still need to practice daily on JAMB-centred CBT apps that are tailored to help you according to your needs. Try as much as possible to try out these apps t daily and cover as many questions as you can.

3. Focus on weak subjects/topics first

Some topics or subjects feel like no matter how much you read them, you will never understand. Try as much as possible to examine these difficult areas, go back to it every day until you fully understand it and you are sure you can answer it without much difficulty before moving to other ones and if you think you can’t understand it, get help from seniors, tutors, teachers, basically anyone you know is better than you at such a subject.

4. Analyze Past Questions

The importance of past questions for any JAMB candidate cannot be overemphasised. Strict analysis of past questions can help you identify recurring topics and understand question formats. As you read, make sure you pay close attention to past questions too. Work them out and figure out the answers. One mistake most students make is believing they can pass excellently well by just mastering past questions, which has sometimes led to failure for some students. Make sure you analyse past questions while actively reading your books and practising daily.

5. Intense revision

Some would argue that for an exam like this, you need at least 6 hours of revision every day, but that’s not really the case. The best you can do for yourself is to know yourself. Your brain might need just 2 hours of revision, while others might need 8 hours to understand the same thing. The best thing is to know what works for you and work accordingly.

6. Keep a positive mindset at all times

Don’t ever think you can’t do well, or that no matter how hard you read, you can never understand. Keep yourself positive through it all. Just get adequate rest, reduce excess stress and focus on the goal at hand.

Exam Day Prep

After such intense preparation, here are some tips for the exam day to keep your levelheaded throughout the duration of the exam;

1. Be Early: Make sure you get to the venue on time to familiarise yourself with the place and keep yourself prepared before your examination starts.

2. Do Not Panic; There might be obstacles, yes, but you need to maintain your cool throughout it all. Freighting for no reason can make you lose direction and distract you from the goal at hand. You must maintain your positive mindset and always keep calm in all situations

3. Time Management; one of the biggest mistakes students make is a lack of time management, learning how to manage your time effectively is a skill every student needs to have. Don’t waste your time on questions you don’t know the answer to; answer the ones you do first, and you can go back to the difficult ones later. Good time management skills are another thing that can take you far in your examination

4. Elimination Method: This is another important technique for scoring high in any multiple-choice question. The goal is to eliminate all the wrong answers first and choose the one you think is correct. If you ever come across a question you are not sure of, eliminate the wrong ones first to increase your chances of choosing the correct answer.

Don’t be deceived by some students who claim they did without reading or doing anything. Just focus on yourself, keep being determined and stay focused at all times
