Governor Babjide Sanwo-Olu has now distributed smart tablets to 600,000 Lagos students to help them in their pursuit of knowledge, ushering in a new age of technology and innovation. This is part of a programme called “Hope for Digital Education.” These tablets are preloaded with curriculum-based learning materials such as digital textbooks, video lessons, and mock exams, and they are powered by Liv.ng data-enabled SIMs and the Roudcate platform.
This program not only empowers Lagos students but also aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s National Hope Agenda, which aims to achieve educational excellence nationwide. The governor, Sanwo Olu, himself, on this development said, “We are enabling access, opportunity and a future where every child can learn, grow and succeed,” emphasising the importance and value of technological advancement in the education sector.
According to Elias Olawale, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, “the governor prioritises education and technology, and he believes this will strengthen Lagos push towards a technology-driven education system.
This new development aims to improve access to quality education for children in public schools and to equip students with 21st-century digital skills. This is a never-before-seen development in Nigeria, and hopefully, it marks the beginning of Nigeria’s journey to becoming a leading force in technology advancement.
