Poco Lee's Rape Case Still Active, Court Appearance Scheduled for September 15 – UK Prosecutors

The sexual offence case involving Nigerian dancer and entertainer Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, is still active in the United Kingdom, with prosecutors confirming that he is scheduled to appear in court on September 15, 2026.

Poco Lee's Rape Case Still Active, Court Appearance Scheduled for September 15 – UK Prosecutors

The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed this in response to an inquiry by Punch Newspaper on Saturday, stating that Poco Lee is expected to appear before Snaresbrook Crown Court for a Plea and Trial Preparation Hearing. "This case is still live, and Odinaka is still set to appear for a PTPH at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 15 September 2026," the CPS Press Office said.

The clarification came amid claims that the dancer had been released from a UK prison and that the complainant had withdrawn from the case or that the matter had been settled out of court.

The development follows unverified reports that Poco Lee had been released from custody and that the complainant had withdrawn from the case. However, neither the court nor the CPS confirmed those claims at the time of filing the report.

The CPS also did not confirm whether the entertainer remains in custody or has been granted bail, and clarification has been sought from Snaresbrook Crown Court over his present custody status, but no response had been received at the time of the report.

Poco Lee is facing five sexual offence charges in the UK, comprising attempted rape, two counts of rape, and two counts of assault by penetration.

The court had earlier confirmed that a reporting restriction was in place to protect the complainant's identity under Section 1 of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992.

The dancer travelled to the UK in August for the Davido and Friends concert held at Crystal Palace Bowl in London on August 14.

The case has drawn significant attention in Nigeria, with many following the developments closely. Poco Lee has not been convicted of any offence, and the allegations remain subject to determination by the court.

The Plea and Trial Preparation Hearing allows a defendant to enter a plea and helps the court address issues ahead of a possible trial.

As the case continues, the public will be watching closely to see how the legal proceedings unfold. The court appearance on September 15 is expected to provide more clarity on the direction of the case and the status of the dancer's custody.

For now, Poco Lee remains innocent until proven guilty, and the legal process must be allowed to run its course.
