"I Still Suffer the Trauma of the Beatings" – Spyro Opens Up on Childhood Abuse

Nigerian singer Spyro has opened up about his painful childhood, revealing that he still suffers from the trauma of constant beatings he received from his father, even when he was innocent of any wrongdoing.

"I Still Suffer the Trauma of the Beatings" – Spyro Opens Up on Childhood Abuse

The "Who Is Your Guy" crooner made the revelation during a recent interview where he spoke candidly about the physical and emotional scars left by his upbringing. "When you try to bring up this conversation, there are things still very clear in my head, and he just acts like it's nothing.

You know when you're in the presence of your dad, and there's this anger that just comes. You can't explain it because it's a lot to unpack," he said.

His words paint a picture of a childhood marked by fear and pain, with the lingering effects of abuse continuing to shape his life as an adult. Spyro said he has not fully healed from the trauma of his father's abuse and has come to accept that he may never fully resolve his relationship with his father. "There are a lot of things that I can't say, but I can't say that I have healed with him. I just came to terms with the fact that I just have to heal for myself," he explained.

He noted that attempting to address the past with his father often leads to further pain, as his father dismisses the severity of the abuse and refuses to acknowledge the harm he caused. The singer explained that he has chosen to focus on his own healing rather than seeking resolution from his father. "Because if I keep trying to sort things out, we have to go there and talk about it. I can't just ignore it, like none of these things happened.

None of this pain that was inflicted," he said. His decision to prioritise his own well-being reflects a difficult but necessary choice for many survivors of childhood abuse, who must often heal without the acknowledgment or apology they deserve. Spyro's openness about his childhood experiences has resonated with many fans who have faced similar trauma. His story highlights the long-lasting impact of abuse on mental health and the importance of seeking support and therapy.

He also emphasised the need for parents to be mindful of the impact their actions have on their children, urging them to break the cycle of abuse and create healthier environments for their families. As Spyro continues to build his career and his life, his willingness to speak openly about his pain serves as an inspiration to others who are struggling with their own trauma.

His journey is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the possibility of healing, even in the face of profound suffering.
