"Just Because I Message You Doesn't Mean I Want to Sleep With You" – Bobrisky Warns Men

Socialite Bobrisky has issued a warning to Nigerian men, urging them to stop misinterpreting casual messages and compliments as sexual advances, and calling for the normalisation of harmless direct messages.

"Just Because I Message You Doesn't Mean I Want to Sleep With You" – Bobrisky Warns Men

Bobrisky made the statement in a social media post that has since gone viral, addressing what he described as a troubling pattern of men assuming that any message from him carries a sexual undertone. "Let's normalise harmless DMs.

Just because I message you or compliment you doesn't mean I want to sleep with you. The thought alone is disgusting," he wrote.

He questioned why interactions involving Nigerians so often end in assumptions about sex, asking, "Why must everything involving Nigerians always end in bed? Is that how some of you are wired?".

The crossdresser drew a distinction between admiration and desire, pointing out that appreciating someone's appearance does not have to be sexualised. "I can appreciate your outfit, your haircut, or anything else about you without wanting you sexually.

Some of us receive plenty of love from our siblings and genuinely know how to appreciate beautiful things without attaching sexual intentions to everything," he explained.

His comments reflect a frustration with the way innocent gestures are often misread in Nigerian society, particularly when they involve a public figure like himself.

Bobrisky also singled out a specific group of men whom he accused of being the main culprits behind the misinterpretations. "Take note, please, especially Nigerian men. And these thoughts are mostly from DL men," he wrote.

The term "DL," short for "down-low," is commonly used to describe men who publicly identify as straight but privately engage with other men. By pointing to this group, Bobrisky suggested that the responses he receives in his DMs are coming from individuals who present a very different image to the world.

The post has sparked a range of reactions online, with some users agreeing with Bobrisky's call for more respectful interactions, while others dismissed his comments as attention-seeking.

The debate highlights broader conversations about gender, sexuality, and the way men and women navigate personal boundaries in the digital age. Bobrisky's willingness to speak openly about his experiences has once again placed him at the centre of a national conversation.
