BREAKING: ASUU Declares Indefinite Strike Across LASU, LASUED and LASUSTECH

Students of three Lagos State-owned universities have been thrown into fresh uncertainty after the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) declared an indefinite strike across the institutions. The affected universities are Lagos State University (LASU), Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), and Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH).  

The industrial action, declared on Tuesday, September 15, is reportedly over the non-implementation of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement by the Lagos State Government. The development comes after months of pressure from university workers over outstanding demands and concerns surrounding the implementation of agreements affecting lecturers’ welfare and working conditions. 

The Lagos ASUU branches had previously issued warnings over the unresolved issues, with concerns that failure to address their demands could disrupt academic activities across the state-owned institutions. Now that the indefinite strike has commenced, students at LASU, LASUED and LASUSTECH are facing another period of uncertainty as academic activities could be affected.

The development is also coming at a time when ASUU has warned that unresolved issues surrounding the 2025 agreement, salaries and other welfare matters could trigger further industrial action in universities across the country.
