Veteran Nollywood actress Stella Damasus has sparked reactions online after revealing the qualities she would want in a man who hopes to become her daughter’s partner.
Speaking during a recent interview with her daughter, Angelica, the actress was asked about the qualities she would never compromise on when it comes to her daughter’s future partner. And Stella did not hold back.
According to the veteran actress, respect comes first. She said the man must genuinely respect her daughter and be deeply invested in her.
“One, he has to fully respect you. Forgive me but I will say it, he has to be obsessed with you, very much obsessed with you,” Stella said.
Her choice of the word “obsessed” has since caught the attention of social media users, with many debating what she meant by wanting a man to be that deeply devoted to her daughter.
Stella also made it clear that love alone would not be enough. The actress said her daughter’s potential partner must be financially stable and have enough resources to take care of both himself and her. “Secondly, he has to have more than enough to care of not just himself but of you too,” she stated.
For Stella, however, money and affection are not the only requirements. She described discipline as another major quality she wants in the man who would eventually be with her daughter. According to her, simply claiming to love or fear God is not enough if the person lacks self-control.
“It is easy to say you want a man who loves God, who fears God, but if he has all of that without self discipline of mind, body, everything, everything will scatter,” she explained.
Just when it seemed Stella had finished listing her requirements, she added another one, physical appearance.
“There is many more because he has to be good looking as well,” she said.
Her comments have since generated conversations online, with Nigerians debating whether her standards are reasonable or whether she is setting the bar too high for her daughter’s future partner.
