“Adeleke! Adeleke!” - Osun Civil Servants Erupt in Jubilation as Governor Returns to Secretariat After Re-election

The Osun State Government Secretariat in Abere was thrown into a celebratory mood on Monday as civil servants turned out in large numbers to welcome Governor Ademola Adeleke following his victory in the state’s governorship election.  

Videos from the scene show workers gathering around the secretariat as Adeleke arrived, with cheers and chants greeting the governor on his return to the seat of government. The reception comes just a day after the governor was declared the winner of Saturday’s keenly contested election.

Rather than a quiet return to the office, Adeleke’s arrival at the Abere secretariat became a celebration, with civil servants reportedly lining up at the entrance to welcome him. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as workers celebrated the governor’s re-election, with videos from the gathering quickly making their way across social media.

The scene has since sparked reactions online, particularly because the governor had just secured another term after a closely watched election. Adeleke emerged victorious in the August 15 governorship election, defeating APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji.

His return to the secretariat marks the beginning of another chapter of his administration after the election campaign, with the governor now set to continue leading Osun State. For the civil servants who gathered to welcome him, however, Monday was less about politics and more about celebrating their governor’s return. And judging by the reception at Abere, Adeleke certainly got a welcome worthy of a re-elected governor.
